Finances

Standing TallIn these financially challenging times, Dharma Ocean is committed to helping as many students attend programs as possible. To that end, we offer partial scholarships and workstudy positions for Dharma Ocean sponsored retreats.  Scholarships and workstudy are awarded based on the following criteria:

Serious or life-threatening medical problems causing financial hardship

Students without the resources to pay in full

Other serious financial need

Financial need is defined as the inability to pay the full tuition fee for the retreat, based on an individual's total financial situation.  Priority will be given to applicants who have not received funds from Dharma Ocean in the past.  The total number of scholarships and amount of each award is determined on a retreat-by-retreat basis dependent on enrollment, scholarship requests, and availability of funds.  When you register, you will be given the option to request a scholarship, and to fill out a scholarship and workstudy application.  Please note that if you are applying for a scholarship, you will be required to select dorm style accommodations.

Applications submitted prior to the scholarship application deadline will receive priority status.  Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a first come, first served basis if funds remain available.  If you foresee financial needs beyond what we can offer, please contact Ashoka Credit Union at least a month before the start of the program.  The friendly Ashoka staff are highly experienced in offering loans for practice programs.
