In 2010, Dharma Ocean again offers its January to May Sutrayana home study course. This year, we offer teaching weekends in two locations: Boulder, Colorado and Vancouver, British Colombia. The non-travel, at-home exam option is also available.
Why complete the Sutrayana Program?
- To prepare to enter the Vajrayana as a student of Dr. Reginald Ray. Before you can attend the Dharma Ocean Vajrayana Training Intensive (VTI), you must demonstrate knowledge of the Sutrayana material covered by this program.
- To begin your study or deepen your understanding of the Sutrayana teachings as they are presented in the lineage of Dr. Ray and his teacher, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Who is qualified to participate in the 2010 Sutrayana program?
- If you have completed part or all of a dathun with Dr. Ray, graduated from the Meditating with the Body© program, or are a tantrika, you are invited to participate.
- Also welcome are practitioners who have attended a sustained meditation retreat in another tradition, meditate regularly, and feel a deep connection with the texts or teachings of Dr. Ray.
What do Sutrayana program participants do?
- Study at home, using the weekly Hinayana & Mahayana Study Guide, which integrates readings and study questions with short talks and meditation instructions by Dr. Ray.
- Participate in an on-line discussion of study questions.
- Receive guidance from a personal meditation instructor.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Hinayana and the Mahayana, either by attending a teaching weekend led by Sutrayana teaching staff or by submitting a written exam.
