Director of Community Life
The Director of Community Life is a new position in 2018 that will lead community life, pastoral care and volunteer functions of Dharma Ocean, and be in charge of fundraising. This heart-centered, community leadership role reports directly to the Board of Directors. This position will have two major roles. The first is the supervision of the development of curricula and guiding and coordinating the mandala councils (Desung, Protection, Family, Inclusivity, Education and Curriculum, MI and Mentoring, Wisdom, End of Life Awakening, Community, etc.). This director will oversee the training and ongoing mentoring of students, MIs and teachers, city sanghas and practice groups throughout the world. The second major role is the development and execution a fundraising strategy. This requires working with key stakeholders, identifying resources needed, networking and connecting with donors, and coordinating with the Executive Director. We will consider a job-share between candidates with complementary skills in order to meet critical priorities, therefore candidates are encouraged to review the application.
Assistant Kitchen Manager
We are currently seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager who will support with all aspects of planning and preparing retreat meals in Dharma Ocean’s Blazing Mountain Retreat Center kitchen. The Assistant Kitchen Manager supervises and participates in the prep and execution of meals, assists in the training and supervision of kitchen staff and volunteers, performs food operations management tasks, and models behavior that supports contemplative practice in a retreat experience. Kitchen staff sometimes has the opportunity to participate in parts of ongoing Dharma Ocean retreats.
