Dharma Ocean connects practitioners throughout the world, through the living lineage of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, as transmitted by Dr. Reggie Ray and Caroline Pfohl. Along with Dharma Ocean’s teachers and instructors, we offer teachings and practices through residential and online retreats, free podcasts and recordings, and live events.
Our mission is to bring these teachings to all who wish to participate. It is only through the generosity of our worldwide community that the teachings come to life.
In 2017, our community members made monthly contributions totaling more than $211,000. In combination with one-time donations, this went to $100,000+ in direct scholarships to 449 people, while also helping us to meet our monthly expenses.
To date, the annual equivalent of monthly contributions is on track to be $210,000 for 2018. We have a goal of $300,000.
Giving to Dharma Ocean is an act of connection and kindness. Your generosity helps us to continue to offer these precious teachings while sustaining our community of practitioners. Those who become part of our Stewardship Circle gain full access to the entire Dharma Ocean digital library, which includes many dozens of hours of Reggie’s teaching and the ability to take a comprehensive immersion into this practice lineage.
We invite you to become part of this widening circle of practitioners who stay connected to Dharma Ocean and to their own deepest values, by giving on a regular basis.
Members of Our Stewardship Circle donate a set amount each month or each year, which allows us to ensure our programs and courses are available to all who wish to attend them.

One-Time Donations can be a way to practice dāna, or cultivating generosity, after a retreat, an online course, an interaction with a Dharma Ocean teacher, or anytime someone feels called to support the mission and teachings of Dharma Ocean beyond what they might have given for tuition or a teaching. Individual donations, along with grants and the supporting memberships of our Stewardship Circle, provided 35% of our revenue in 2017, which offset our costs and supported our many teaching activities, including free offerings like our growing 200+ episode podcast.
Volunteers are indispensable to making our online and residential retreats come alive, through the magic of community, interpersonal dialog, shared experiences, and direct transmission of the teachings. Nearly 200 volunteers helped to staff and run our programs in 2017.
You can read a full breakdown of our finances through our 2017 Annual Report. As a charitable organization, all donations are 100% tax deductible.
