Mahamudra for the Modern World: The Practice, the Path, and the Journey

March 22, 2014 - March 30, 2014

Retreat Description

The Mahamudra tradition is an unsurpassed means of meeting reality — seeing the world in all its transcendent beauty, power, and perfection. While it is among the pinnacle teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, Mahamudra is astoundingly accessible to modern people. This public residential retreat offers immersion in some of the most profound Mahamudra practices, as well as discussion of how this path can unfold in our contemporary lives — in order to fully experience the awakening, freedom, and joy offered by this ancient tradition.

This nine-day retreat is open to both beginning and advanced practitioners. As a retreat community, we will be co-creating an environment that supports deep practice, including maintaining silence throughout the week, following a rigorous schedule from early morning to evening, and participating in periodic retreat work assignments, such as cleaning and food preparation.

About the Teacher

Reggie Ray was one of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s first American students and has studied, practiced, and taught within the lineage of Trungpa Rinpoche for forty years. Reggie is known both for teaching meditation that is deeply grounded in the body and also for his ability to unlock the often esoteric aspects of Tibetan Buddhism and make them readily accessible to modern people in all their depth. He is the author of many widely respected books including Indestructible Truth, Secret of the Vajra World, and Touching Enlightenment, and audio series including Your Breathing Body and Mahamudra For the Modern World.
