Meditating With The Body® — Spring Retreat

About this retreat

For meditators of all levels, this in-depth training program includes two residential retreats and a comprehensive at-home curriculum designed for optimum integration into your daily life. The instruction is focused on mindfulness-awareness and body-based practices from Tibetan yoga.

Retreat Dates:
February 18-23, 2014

Curriculum highlights:

  • In-depth instruction in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice
  • Establishing strong inner and outer sitting posture based on the principles of alignment, relaxation and resilience
  • Extensive instruction in the Tibetan Yoga practices of: prana breathing, earth breathing, diagnostic breathing, and many more breath awareness exercises
  • Uncovering the genesis and nature of the “self,” including how and why it is created and maintained
  • Working directly with physical discomfort, illness and disease
  • Experiencing the body as the expression of your personal karmic history
  • Understanding how karma is created, stored and released in the body
  • Relating to the body as the manifestation of enlightenment itself
  • Teachings on the Four Noble Truths, the Five Skandhas, Spiritual Materialism, Buddha Nature, and more

During each retreat, you will strengthen your practice with:

  • Extensive daily instruction from Tami Simon and Nanda Zipp, senior students of Reggie Ray
  • A daily question and answer period
  • A private meeting with personal meditation instructor
  • A meeting with your meditation study group to share your experiences within a small group context
  • A structured sitting schedule to apply your learning and further develop your practice.

In between the retreats, your practice will deepen with:

  • A substantial at-home curriculum created exclusively for Meditating with the Body including recorded lectures, readings, and guided exercises to further your conceptual and experiential understanding of how the body is the gateway to enlightenment
  • A monthly private phone call with your personal meditation instructor
  • A monthly telephone meeting with your meditation study group
  • An online community forum for discussion and sharing
  • Recorded meditation and body-based practices

Who Can Attend?

This program is for current participants in the 2013-2014 MWTB program.


Important dates

February 18: Arrival day for second retreat. Please arrange your travel to arrive and check-in between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Dinner will be provided.

February 23: Departure day for second retreat. Participants will depart at 11 am — please plan your travel accordingly. A bag lunch will be provided.


About the Teachers

Tami Simon
Tami Simon is the Founder and Publisher of Sounds True, an independent multi-media company dedicated to disseminating spiritual wisdom. Tami began studying with Reggie Ray in 2001 and began teaching “Meditating with the Body” introductory workshops in 2007. Her areas of special interest include authentic leadership and applying spiritual principles to organizational life. Tami lives in Boulder, Colorado with her partner Julie Kramer.
Nanda Zipp
Drawing upon two decades of training in art and meditation practice, Nanda’s teaching focuses on exploring the boundary between meditation and post-meditation. Nanda served as President of the Dharma Ocean Foundation from 2009 to 2013, and lives in Boulder, Colorado.
