SUMMARY:Silence: Overcoming the Age of Distraction
DESCRIPTION: \n\nA Boulder Weekend with Dharma Ocean Teacher Jeremy Lowry\nIn this weekend retreat\, led by Dharma Ocean teacher Jeremy Lowry\, we will explore the practice of sitting meditation and other contemplative tools to bring forth inner quietude. In discussion\, we will explore the merits of silence and solitude and the cost of a modern lifestyle based on distraction. \nWe will spend at least one day of the retreat in silence\, including a silent meal. Jeremy will offer practical and experiential instruction on the practice of meditation through guided meditation sessions\, talks\, and group discussions. No experience necessary—everyone is welcome. \n\nRegister Now \n \nLocation \nDharma Ocean Boulder Meditation Center \n4676 Broadway \nBoulder\, CO \n\n\n\nRetreat Details\nThe program will take place Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday September 18 – 20. To register click the register now link at the top of the page. No prior experience required. Tuition for the program is $90. \nFriday evening’s talk will be free and open to the public. This part of the program will also be available by live stream. Registration for this part of the program is not necessary. \nFree Evening Talk \nFriday\, September 18\, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.\nFriday evening’s talk will also be streamed online.  \nBy registration \nSaturday\, September 19\, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (with a break for lunch* at noon)\nSunday\, September 20\, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \n*Lunch will not be provided\, however you may bring your lunch or there are several restaurants within walking distance. \n\nAbout the Teacher\n\nJeremy Lowry has been a student of Dr. Ray since 1996. He studied with Reggie at Naropa University\, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Buddhist Studies. He is currently a faculty member and administrator at Naropa\, teaching courses on Buddhist and Western philosophy and psychology\, women and gender studies and other topics. He has supported faculty members in the creation and implementation of online courses on meditation and the Buddhist tradition. He has been a meditation instructor for more than ten years\, and enjoys working with students from a variety of practice backgrounds and interests. \n\n \n\n\n\nLocation/Transportation\nThis program will be held at the Dharma Ocean Boulder Center\, located at 4676 Broadway Street in Boulder\, Colorado.
