Summer Meditation Intensive

June 14, 2014 - June 29, 2014

Retreat Description

Similar in structure to our annual Winter Dathün, this retreat offers structured training in the practice of meditation — the simple yet profound practice of awakening to our most fundamental self.

In the unique environment of deep retreat, we will explore traditional mindfulness-awareness practices grounded in the somatic practices of Meditating with the Body developed by Dr. Reggie Ray. Within the warmth of supportive community, experienced practitioners, and a wonderful teacher, this is a transformative opportunity to journey deep into the limitless openness, wisdom, and joy that are within each one of us.

Summer Meditation Intensive highlights include:

  • Guided instruction in body-based meditation practices
  • Daily talks on the essential meditation teachings of the practicing lineage
  • Intensive meditation schedule
  • Periods of silence interspersed with discussion and group exploration
  • Time for outdoor practice
  • Mentoring by an individual meditation instructor
  • Vibrant and mutually supportive community, including work assignments to support the retreat environment

Participation in the full 2-week program is strongly encouraged as the longer retreat time enables us to settle deeper into the practice and the retreat space. Those who want to attend for a single week are required to register for Week 1. This program is open to beginning and experienced meditators, and for those who are following the Dharma Ocean path, it counts toward the Dathün retreat requirement. Through guided meditation, group practice, and individual mentoring we will have an opportunity to gradually let go of habitual tendencies and obscurations revealing the openness, compassion, and vivid wakefulness of our lives.
