The Line: A Professional Bodywork Training for Sitting Meditators with Guest Teacher Will Johnson

May 7, 2015 - May 10, 2015

2014_The-Line_700x200

Guest teacher Will Johnson presents The Line, a training for bodyworkers who would like to assist sitting meditation practitioners through a combination of instructional guidance and bodywork sessions.

The purpose of The Line is to help transform the experience of sitting meditation from struggle and bracing into grace and release. This program is open to trained bodyworkers who are drawn to the transformational potency of sitting meditation practice. In addition to verbal coaching sessions, participants will perform a series of bodywork sessions designed to support the meditator’s ability to sit with grace and relative ease.

During this training, we will explore a four part series of bodywork sessions with elements taken from Rolfing™, massage therapy, and cranial work. Mornings will consist of sitting meditation practice and bodywork demonstrations. The afternoons are reserved primarily for exploring and practicing the bodywork. Participants will pair up and give and receive bodywork sessions demonstrated in the mornings. Evening sessions will feature guided meditation practice and teaching and will be open to the public.

Who can participate in this training?

The Line is open to all bodyworkers who have graduated from a recognized school of bodywork and are drawn to the transformational potency of sitting meditation practice.

While much of the approach to the hands-on sessions comes from the teachings of Ida Rolf, this training is open to all hands-on practitioners. How long you’ve been working, what form of hands-on work you practice, and at which school you received your training is far less important than your resonance with the purpose of this training.
