True Perception: Vajrayana Practice of the Arts

July 29, 2018 - August 4, 2018

“I don’t think you learn dharma art, you discover it; and you do not teach dharma art, but you set up an environment so that it can be discovered.” -- Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Join us this summer for Dharma Ocean’s ongoing retreat dedicated to the exploration of the Three Samayas through creative practice.

As artists and vajrayana practitioners we are vessels of the sign lineage. When we return to our empty and open nature, artistic disciplines become gateways for the manifestation of the sacred world. Making art also allows us to transmit the lineage in a pure and powerful way, and connects us with the inherent sacredness of our expression, beyond any judgment or hesitation.

Daily vajrayana practice, experiential exercises, talks and discussion, as well as collective and individual creative practice will comprise our time together. The program will be guided by Caroline Pfohl, Laurel Mackey Miller, and Ru-Jün Zhou, though our intention is to co-create the container with all participants. Join us in this exciting venture to cultivate creativity and community. Let the phenomena play!
