SUMMARY:True Perception: Vajrayana Practice of the Arts
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n“I don’t think you learn dharma art\, you discover it; and you do not teach dharma art\, but you set up an environment so that it can be discovered.” -- Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche \n\nJoin us this summer for Dharma Ocean’s ongoing retreat dedicated to the exploration of the Three Samayas through creative practice. \nAs artists and vajrayana practitioners we are vessels of the sign lineage. When we return to our empty and open nature\, artistic disciplines become gateways for the manifestation of the sacred world. Making art also allows us to transmit the lineage in a pure and powerful way\, and connects us with the inherent sacredness of our expression\, beyond any judgment or hesitation. \nDaily vajrayana practice\, experiential exercises\, talks and discussion\, as well as collective and individual creative practice will comprise our time together. The program will be guided by Caroline Pfohl\, Laurel Mackey Miller\, and Ru-Jün Zhou\, though our intention is to co-create the container with all participants. Join us in this exciting venture to cultivate creativity and community. Let the phenomena play! \n\n\nLocation \nBlazing Mountain Retreat Center \nCrestone\, CO \n \nCoordinator \ninfo@dharmaocean.org \n\n\n\n \n\nAbout the Teachers\n\nCaroline Pfohl is the prime lineage holder of the Dharma Ocean lineage. She chairs the Dharma Ocean Foundation board of directors\, and holds the role of Desung (Protector of Joy) for the community. Caroline is also the founder and Chair of the Hemera Foundation\, a philanthropic organization dedicated to introducing secular contemplative views and practices into mainstream society\, focusing on education\, women and children\, and the arts. \n\n \n\n\n\n  \n\nLaurel Mackey Miller began studying with Dr. Reggie Ray in the Winter of 2000. She has been a meditation instructor since 2006 and currently leads Dharma Ocean Boulder. In tandem\, Laurel has studied with painter Joan Anderson\, discovering contemplative approaches to visual art. She lives with her partner and their dog in Boulder\, CO. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n  \nRu-Jün Zhou has been immersed in a variety of art forms since her youth. Hong Kong native Ru-Jün has collaborated with artists worldwide to curate award-winning contemplative arts education programs focused on empowering young people to express who they truly are. A student in the Dharma Ocean lineage since 2007\, Ru-Jün holds development of Dharma Ocean’s global practice communities and is a guest teacher at the Boulder center. Her practices today include photography and Chinese calligraphy.\n\n \n\n\n\nRegistration\nRegistration is not yet open. \nTrue Perception participants must also be registered for a VTI segment that includes week 2 of VTI. Attendance at a previous VTI is a prerequisite for True Perceptions. \n\nRetreat Details\nPlease see VTI Retreat details. \n\nFOR MORE INFORMATION\, PLEASE CALL US AT 303-955-2574 or 1-877-DHARMA9\n\n  \n
