SUMMARY:The Journey of Just Being: Winter Meditation Intensive
DESCRIPTION: \n\nThe Somatic Practice of Pure Awareness\nIn the practice of sitting meditation\, we are called to wake up to the actual life we are living and to discover who we really are beneath all of our habitual patterns and confusion. This month-long meditation retreat\, co-led by Neil McKinlay and Dr. Reginald "Reggie" Ray\, is a powerful practice for engaging the journey of meditation more deeply and for transforming our everyday experience by sowing the seeds of awareness. Through the practice of extended retreat and deep somatic work\, we encounter joy\, pain\, neurosis and openness. In the process\, we access a deep well of wisdom and compassion within our own experience that we can share with the suffering world. \nCome for one\, two\, or three week segments\, or for the full month. \nWeek 1: December 13 – December 20 (Led by Neil McKinlay) \nWeek 2: December 20 – December 27 (Led by Neil McKinlay) \nWeek 3: December 27 – January 3 (Led by Reggie Ray) sold out \nWeek 4: January 3 – January 10 (Led by Reggie Ray) sold out \nSpace is still available for participants wishing to attend weeks 1\, 2\, and/or the full month. We have reached maximum capacity participants attending only weeks three and four. Click here to be placed on a waitlist if you'd like to attend just weeks 3 and 4. \nYou may also join us online! The Journey of Just Being: A Two-Week Online Meditation Retreat\, will run in parallel with the last two weeks of the Winter Meditation Intensive and will feature recordings of select teachings and guided meditations from the residential retreat. All participants in the residential program will receive access to our online program at no additional cost. To learn more about the online program\, click here. \n \nAbout the teachers\n\nDr. Reginald “Reggie” Ray draws on four decades of study and intensive meditation practice within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition to address the unique problems\, inspirations\, and spiritual imperatives of modern people. He is the founder and Spiritual Director of the Dharma Ocean Foundation\, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the practice\, study\, and preservation of the teachings of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and the practice lineage he embodied. \n\n \n\n\n\nNeil McKinlay has been student of Reggie’s since 1999. His teaching reflects an ongoing interest in the rich intersection of spirituality and everyday life. A partner\, parent\, and householder\, he is curious about how deep engagement with this lineage affects our relationship with the ‘ordinary’ — with ourselves and others\, with livelihood\, and with the world of which we are part. Neil teaches regularly in the Pacific Northwest and delights in the many opportunities this affords to see how the practice of meditation uncovers the fire within\, brings healing into our lives\, and alters how we meet each and every moment. As might be expected\, Neil’s instruction has been described as “straightforward” and “accessible”. \n\n \n\n\nRegistration\nRegistration for this program is now closed.
