In this moment, the body's natural quality of wakefulness is fully present. No matter our individual situation or struggle, this quality is immediately available to us, at any time, in every moment. The path of embodied meditation invites us to repeatedly and directly experience the awakened nature of the body.
In this 7-week program, we will explore the core practices from the Meditating with the Body ® curriculum, developed by Reggie Ray. This Boulder-based event is accessible to all levels of experience, from beginning to advanced practitioners. It will be of great benefit to anyone looking to connect to, and live from, the body as the next step on the path.
We will practice the bottom-up process of somatic meditation, to connect with the self-existing wakefulness that is already present within the body. While attempts to meditate can often end up as endeavors into thinking and concepts, somatic meditation starts with the awareness of the body itself, from feelings and sensations, to somatic intuition, to the felt sense. We are simply trying to become present to the reality unfolding in this very moment.
Reggie talks about how this practice can bring lasting transformation, because we gain the experience that what we seek isn’t found outside, above, or in any other place, but is instead the most essential and profound reality of the very human body we inhabit, waiting for us to touch in with it, and awaken to it.

About the Teacher
Bryn Rees has been a meditation student since 2003. His path, in a very ordinary sense, is to touch more directly, and open further to, the unbroken stream of experiential invitations that life provides. A father of two young children, he is especially interested in the union of meditation practice with the realities of family life.
